Willo
Clare Hausman
After graduating NYU with a BFA in acting (and performing in a few David Mamet movies), Willo was the Founding Artistic Director of a theatre company in NYC (NRG), which used a mainly film-based crew and performed verité style throughout Manhattan. This culminated in NRG’s most notable endeavor, The Hobbywood Canteen, which was performed on a soundstage at Culver Studios in LA and received much kudos and notoriety. Willo then proceeded to train on high-powered film sets, working in a variety of capacities, including Nobody’s Fool (stand-in/perdiem-envelope-stuffer and art department pa), Family Thing (set pa and casting assistant), People vs. Larry Flynt (extras casting director), Twilight (producer’s assistant) and Man On The Moon (camera assistant).
Willo also spent many years working by her father’s
side at his NY-based production company, Cinehaus. Fairie is
Willo’s directorial debut. A fantastical tale about 9 fairy creatures celebrating
the new millennium at the Hollywood sign, this 69-minute film was shot
on 30p HD (thus when projected properly it appears almost 3D). Willo also
shot and directed Last Day At Cinetel,
a short work humorously revealing (via the reality genre) the inherent
frustrations of being an artist trapped in a menial job. Next up is Clare,
a sexy murder mystery revolving around a modern-day clan of witches living
in the midst of a large metropolis. Vignettes were recently completed to
showcase this script. Also in development are two television sitcoms and
a documentary film. Willo has now formed her own LA and SF-based film company, Gryphon
Pictures.
